Subject: Sewak’s Trust Merit cum Means Scholarships for the girl’s students of Govt. Polytechnic for Women Morni (Panchkula)

The SEWAK’S CHARITABLE TRUST (Regd.) Lal Kothi, Vill. Behlon, Morni Hills (Panchkula) vide their letter no. SCT/VOC TRG-W/2010/83 of dated 06/09/2010 has agreed to offer 30 scholarships @ Rs. 250/- PM (5 scholarships for each year of Diploma in Computer Engg. and Diploma in Hotel Management) to meritorious and needy girls student of this institute with effect from the current year i.e 2010-11.

The Rules and condition for the award of Sewaks’s Trust Merit cum Means Scholarship will be as under

I. Eligibility

i. Only bonafied girls students of GPW Morni shall be eligible for this scholarship

ii. The students must have secured more than 50% marks in the previous exams in which they have appeared

II. 5 students of the total sanctioned admission capacity or actual intake of each trade in the polytechnics will be awarded Sewak’s Trust Merit cum Means Scholarships @ Rs. 250/- per month which will be valid for one semester.

III. The Sewaks’ Charitable Trust shall forward the annual scholarship amount of Rs. 90,000/- by Draft/Cheque in the name of Principal, Govt. Polytechnic for Women Education Society Morni (Panchkula) by 30th October of each year for the award scholarships to students based on their merit of previous year/semester exams. The amount will be credited in the society account.

IV. Once the scholarship amount is received, the institutional committee constituted for the award of scholarship shall follow the following schedule

i. Application invitation on the prescribed Performa : 1st Nov. to 20th Nov.

ii. Preparation of means cum merit list and its display: By 30th Nov.

iii. Award of scholarships to students by bank transfer: By 10th Dec.

V. The criteria for the award will be annual income of the parents (valid income certificate) of the students followed by their merit in the previous exams in which they have appeared.

VI. No scholar can hold, at a time more than one scholarship. In case he/she is awarded more than one scholarship, he/she shall have option to accept any one of them.


VII. The grant of scholarship will depend upon the satisfactory progress and conduct of the students. If it is observed by the Principal of the Polytechnic at any time, that the scholar has been guilty of misconduct such as resorting to or participation in strike, irregular in attendance etc.etc. The Principal may either cancel the scholarship or stop.

VIII. If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statements, his/her scholarship will also be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid shall be recovered.

IX. The scholarship shall lapse if the scholar dies or if he ceases to attend the institution at which the scholarship was awarded.

X. A certificate in the following form, signed by the Principal or senior officer authorized by him shall be recorded on all bills of scholarship: “I hereby certify that the scholar on whose account the above amount has been drawn has been regular in attendance and have confirmed to the rules under which the scholarship is tenable.”

XI. Any scholarship which falls vacant due to one reason or another will be awarded to the next eligible candidates.


XII. In the event of any doubt, existing out of the interpretation of the rules, the decision of the Principal Shall be final.

XIII. In case the candidates having equal marks, the poorest shall get precedence over the other.

XIV. Stamped receipts should be obtained from the students at the time of making payment.

XV. The Principal shall constitute a Sewak’s Trust Scholarship Committee for the award of the scholarship consisting of 1. HOD.HM/CE who so ever senior (Chairman) 2. One Head of Department (Member) 3. One Lect. (Member) 4. Dy. Suptt. (Member).

XVI. The chairman of the committee on behalf of the Principal will seek applications from students for the award of scholarship on the prescribed application form for this scholarship. The application collected upto the decided date shall be forwarded to the committee for the award of scholarship.

XVII. As regard the merit, only those students who have passed the qualifying examination in one attempt, and have secured at least 50% marks are eligible.

XVIII. In the case of first semester students, on the basis of admission merit and in the subsequent semester, on the basis of the result of previous semester.
