Courses Offered


Govt. Polytechnic for Women (GPWM) offers the following job oriented courses:

1. Diploma in Computer Engineering (3 years, 6 Semester)

2. Diploma in Architectural Assistantship (3 years, 6 Semester)

3. Medical Lab Technology (3 years, 6 Semester)

Diploma in Computer Engineering (D.CE)

Eligibility Criteria: 10th in any State Board Exam (Pass in Math & Science subjects is compulsory)

Intake : 60 Students

Job Opportunities:

There are plenty of options available to the students of this course – System Maintenance, Network Engineer, System Administrator, Junior Programmer and Web designer / developer. Most IT industry employs students with qualifications in Computer Engineering.

Areas of Study:

Core subjects like Programming in C, OOPS, Data Structure, Microprocessor, Computer organization, Visual Basic, JAVA. Besides these the peripheral subjects like Communication skills, Computer Applications, Software Engineering are also taught.

Diploma in Architectural Assistantship  (D.AA)

Eligibility Criteria: 10th in any State Board Exam

Intake : 30 Students

Job Opportunities:

 

In Govt. Engineering offices like P.W.D., Public Health, Irrigation, Town Planning Corporation offices etc. As Draughtsman. Teaching jobs. Large percentage of diploma holders in Architectural Assistantship find employment with private architects and also majority of them go for self-employment, Some percentage of students may find employment in state housing boards, urban development authorities. Diploma holder in architect assistantship mainly assist the architect who is a degree holder in making drawings and supervising the building under construction, In some states local self Govt. does give them license to approve plans of buildings. Self employment scope is very much there.

Areas of Study:

 

Diploma holders in Architectural Assistantship are supposed to prepare working drawings of buildings and should have basic knowledge  of the important materials like; stones, bricks, lime, cement, paints, timber, exterior and interior finishes, glass, plastics, building hardware, roofing materials, additives and admixtures, adhesives etc.

· To prepare structural drawings, working drawings and detailed drawings of various components of buildings with the help of graphic representation.

· To know, design and execute building interiors.

· To create, manipulate and manage 2D drawings for interior projects with the help of Computer Aided Drafting and Design.

· To prepare working drawings of various fittings and fixtures and water supply and sanitary installations.

· To prepare the municipal drawings to get them sanctioned from the local development body.

· To prepare architectural models

Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (D.MLT)

Eligibility Criteria: 10th in any State Board Exam

Intake : 60 Students

Job Opportunities:

Medical lab technology have unlimited choices of practice settings. Hospitals, independent laboratories, clinics, public health facilities, and industry all currently have positions open for qualified medical technologists. Additional opportunities are available in molecular diagnostics, molecular biotechnology companies and in vitro fertilization laboratories as well as in research labs.

Areas of Study:

Communication Skills, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Hematology, Clinical Biochemistry, Ecology and Environmental Awareness Camp, Histopathology, Basics of Information Technology, Blood Banking, Medical Laboratory Management and Professional Ethics, Cytology, Practical/Professional Training about the MLT, Resource Requirements for MLT.

Other Short Term Courses

The Institute is in the process of starting job oriented short term courses for local community for duration ranging from 1 month to 6 months under various schemes of State Govt. of Haryana and Govt. of India. The areas identified for these courses will be

1. Food processing

2. Housekeeping and Food & Beverage service

3. Computer Applications

4. Stenography.
