Excursion Tour for Students

                    

INTRODUCTION 

                        The Govt. Polytechnic for Women Education Society Morni (Panchkula) is taking a series of steps to improve the quality of education in the polytechnic under its control. The society is submitted to provide an atmosphere that is conductive to all round growth & a complete human personality. It is felt that education is imparted not only through for the class room teaching but also through interaction with other children, environment to new places of interest and site visit to places of professional relevance like industrial visit, trade fairs, exhibitions etc. These tours and exposure visits help the students in co-relating the related theory knowledge gained in the class room teaching with real life practical requirement of industry and society as a whole.   

           

STUDENTS TO BE COVERED UNDER THE SCHEME  

 

All the students from 1st year to 3rd year studying in the polytechnic would be taken on a study tour at-least once in each semester although it can be more depending upon the options/ opportunities available. . The Heads of Department of different diploma programmes would be responsible for organizing these tours.

 1.     LOCATIONS/ PLACES WHICH CAN  BE VISITED

 

 a)     That the locations which can be visited can be broadly classified into three categories :

·         Within 500 KM radius of the polytechnic

·         Within 300 KM radius of the polytechnic

·         Within 100 KM radius of the polytechnic

b)    That the place should be easily accessible by road.

c)     That the place so identified can be outside the state also.

d)    That the place should not be on uneasy and dangerous terrain.

e)     That the places for the tour can be industrial units, trade fair, book fairs,  exhibitions, technical institutions, museums, botanical & herbal gardens, historical/ cultural importance, tourist interest or any other relevant place which the institution authority feels appropriate.

  

2.     Duration and who is eligible for the type of tour

 

 The duration of the tour will depend on the distance being covered and the details are as under:

3.     MODE OF CONVEYANCE

The institution bus Sawraj Mazda 32 Seater bus will be used for this purpose.

 

4.     NUMBER OF STUDENTS TO BE TAKEN AT ONE TIME

 

                A batch of students consisting of 28 students will be allowed to travel on a single trip. It should be ensured that the students are from same year/ trade. However, if the total strength of the batch is less than 28, then students from other year of the same trade can be merged. But in no case the number of students will exceed the number of seats (28 allowed) nor shall the students submitted to sit on the top of the bus.

 

5.     WHO WILL ACCOMPANY THE STUDENTS ON TOUR

 

 Each batch will be accompanied by the following:

a)     Two staff members with at-least one lady staff

b)    One of the senior staff members will be designated as Tour In-charge who will be held responsible for everything on the tour.

c)     Driver and one care taker/ class IV staff.

 

6.     DUTIES OF STAFF ACCOMPANING THE TOUR

 

 a)  That effort will be made to ensure that the concerned class teachers are deputed for the purpose.

b)    That staff accompanying the group will be fully accountable for the safety of the students.

c)    The concern HOD of the department will ensure that all the pre requirements like complete details of site to be visited for each day of the tour programmed, movement of the bus, advance booking for accommodations, night stay etc.

d)    That student shall not be left to themselves under any circumstances.

e)    That the teachers shall carry a first-Aid Kit and contact of police station, hospitals etc on the way for any emergency.

f)    That under no circumstances the students should be allowed to eat anything unhygienic at the places of visit.

g)   That prior permission for bus travel from concerned wing of the state transport is obtained for travel to other state.

 

7.     DUTIES OF THE HEAD OF THE INSTITUTION

 

a)   That the excursion tours are arranged in a manner that the academic curriculum is not disturbed.

b)   That the excursion tours should be avoided in extreme weather conditions.

c)   That all adequate arrangements shall be planned and executed by the concerned HOD to ensure the safety of girl students going for the tour.

 

8.     EXPENDITURE HEAD FOR THE TOUR

 

a)     The expenditure on account of POL and repairs  if any of the bus on tour will be met out of the head ‘ Educational Tour’ of the student fund.

b)    Other charges like parking fee, barrier charges, toll tax etc shall be met from the collection made from the students.

c)     The concerned In-charge of the tour will obtain sufficient TI from Officer In-charge cash for meeting the expenditure for the POL and other charges as mentioned in a) above and the bills for the same be kept in safe custody to be submitted for passing and reimbursement after the completion of the tour.

d)    Sufficient provision of budget shall be ensured under the relevant head of budget of Student Fund for this activity.
